We are delighted to announce that our 2025-2026 CPD Programme brochure is now available, offering early years educators and reception educators across our Stronger Practice Hub region a comprehensive calendar of professional development opportunities, be that face to face training events, online webinars, ongoing network sessions and CPD Programmes.
Our programme includes categories such as Working with Babies or Two Year Olds, Communication, Language & Literacy, Mathematics, Physical Development, PSED, SEND Support, Leadership & Staff Development, and a variety of activities in our EYFS Learning Community. All activities can be browsed by category or by date in the brochure to help you find the most relevant opportunities.
From September 2025, the EYFS safeguarding requirements have been strengthened, so all Early Years providers must be aware of these changes and review policies and procedures in light of them.
The Bath and North East Somerset Early Years Team have created a short video explaining these changes, which you can watch here:
From September 2025, there is a new requirement in the EYFS framework that all early years providers should have regard to the new nutrition guidance. We asked Jo Ingleby, Head of Food Education at The Children's Kitchen to review the new guidance and she has written a blog to help us make sense of it, 'New Early Years Nutrition Guidance – What You Need to Know'.

New Early Years Nutrition Guidance – What You Need to Know
In this essential blog Jo breaks down the new statutory EYFS Nutrition Guidance coming into effect this September. The updated requirements will affect all early years providers—from maintained nurseries to childminders—marking a significant shift towards healthier food provision for young children. Jo's blog explains the key changes, including restrictions on ultra-processed foods, the elimination of puddings except fruit and unsweetened yoghurt, and new requirements for drinks and snacks.
With children from deprived backgrounds nearly twice as likely to face obesity, these guidelines represent a crucial step in addressing early years health inequalities.
Whether your setting cooks onsite, uses caterers, or relies on packed lunches, Jo's practical insights will help you navigate these important changes. Read her full blog post and don't miss her upcoming free webinar sessions on September 18th for childminders and September 24th for settings.
