What's Next for the Stronger Practice Hubs...

Early Years Stronger Practice Hubs Extended Until March 2026

We’re pleased to announce that the DFE's Early Years Stronger Practice Hubs programme has been extended until March 2026.

This means Hubs will continue to provide free support and advice to improve quality in early years settings, by sharing evidence-informed practice through their local networks.  The Bristol & Beyond SPH is reviewing it's provision and will be scheduling more professional development soon.

For now, see the SPH What's Coming Up poster for March and see below for event links, webinars and other resources you can access.  We would also like to invite anyone who has attended our Birth-3 events or our Maths events to attend our Regional Network Reflection sessions in March. Come and join our learning communities!

To support early reading Bristol Early Years and the SPH have started the Bristol Early Years Book Club. As well as being useful and inspiring, this is really joyous! Every month they are sharing a list of books, with a particular focus or theme, a poem and suggestions for how to use the books in your settings. You can see these monthly resources on the Bristol Early Years website, and you can watch some videos of books or poems being recited on their Instagram. Start following the Bristol Early Years Book Club to see which books and poems are going to pop up next month!

Trauma Informed? Dispelling the Jargon and How You Can Make a Difference by Terri Mitchell

Terri is a local specialist lead for PSED in Bristol and has done a diploma with Trauma Informed Schools, which in her words, 'blew her mind and changed how she viewed the world'. She shares her learning, dispels the jargon and invites you to be curious and brave and shift your thinking, from viewing behaviours as challenging to viewing them as distressed behaviours. Terri offers hope, that with knowledge and understanding, you have the power and are in the privileged position to connect and be the emotionally available adult that a child might need to tip the scales and change their life outcomes.
